The Journal Vegueta has been included in the database Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) click here. It is a new index in the Web of Science (WoS), edited by Thomson Reuters. The ESCI, created in November 2015, expands the contents of the WoS by indexing additional high-quality, peer-reviewed publications of regional importance and in emerging research fields while the content is considered for inclusion in the highly selective WoS citation indexes, as Arts & Humanities Citation Index or Social Sciences Citation Index.
Journals indexed in the ESCI have been evaluated by Thomson Reuters and have passed quality standards, both in the process of editorial management (anonymous peer review, contents of high interest for the scientific community and strict compliance with the code of ethics, among other things), and its technical requirements. The journals included in the ESCI have not the impact factor (IF) calculated, but their papers and citations have already been added to the WoS main collection since 2015.
The Vegueta Editorial Board and Editor in Chief have been working very hard since 2013 to achieve important goals, as Vegueta being included in the European Reference Index for Humanities & Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS) or in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The inclusion of Vegueta in the category History of the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of the Web of Science is a significant achievement, considering that only 91 out of 3,438 journals have been included in such a category. Only 13 out of 91 journals incorporated in the category History are from Spain.
